Mentor Service
MTTA started a new Mentor Service for Masters and slaves in 2010 under the direction of Master David, a kinky psychologist based in Maryland.
The Mentor Service is a development group made up of Masters and slaves who are recognized for their experience and excellence. Our goal is to provide men and women who have begun their Master or slave journey, completed training at the MTTA Academy and/or reside in the Northeast Region, a structured opportunity to enhance their knowledge, skills, and competence.
Our Purpose is to contribute to measurable, positive changes and competence development through effective communication, projects, and other learning and development opportunities.

"The mediocre teacher tells. The good teacher explains. The superior teacher demonstrates. The great teacher inspires."

What You Can Expect
Overview: This 6-month or one-year contracted service will consist of two main tracks, either Master or slave. The content may include basic through advanced knowledge, skills, lifestyle values (e.g., honesty, trust, respect, loyalty, obedience, responsibility), forms of service that is common to both Masters and slaves and, other learning opportunities specific to each participant’s developmental needs. While the mentor will provide considerable time and effort towards the success of the mentee, it will be the mentee's responsibility to coordinate, plan and participate fully in each learning or skill development activity. There is no cost for MTTA Mentor Services; however, the mentee will be responsible for all costs associated with any personal learning and development activities planned during the contracted Mentoring period.
Planned Development: Each participant will discuss their developmental needs and prepare their personal Development Plan with their assigned mentor. That Master or slave mentor will be their key advisor and will provide the ongoing mentoring services that will be required for the participant to be successful in accomplishing their goals. Each mentee’s development goals will be stated in writing. The development plan should list all classroom and informal learning opportunities (e.g., individual training sessions, demonstrations, open discussion meetings), and all competence development projects to include the desired learning outcomes and what expected competence level should be demonstrated. The plan should be dynamic and subject to amendments as relative progress is experienced.
Common Learning: Examples of formal classes, workshops, and events that may be integrated into the curriculum include service at MTTA Academy, M/s Conference, Master Development Center, Master's Retreat, Servants Retreat, NDD/s Boot Camp, other Mentor Program scheduled classes as well as other individually scheduled skill development opportunities conducted near the mentee.
Individual Learning: Few, if any of our mentors will be expert in every part of the lifestyle. There may be specific skills that should be learned through other sources (e.g., boot blacking, formal dining service, butler service, flogging, whipping, etc). These skill classes and practice will be listed as part of the development plan to include when, where, and conducted by whom. When planning this form of learning, specify an expected level of competence that can be demonstrated at the completion.
Two-way Feedback: At least monthly, the mentor and mentee should conduct a review and evaluate the progress and outcomes of the activities during that period. The Master or slave's development should be recorded and during each review the outcomes along with any recommendations will be provided by the Mentor. At any time, the Mentor or the mentee should address any questions, concerns, or other issues that may affect the developmental process. This would be an excellent time to practice impeccable honesty.

Master David
Master David, is a recently retired scene-friendly psychologist who first developed an appreciation for "the fine art of SM" while growing up in the San Francisco Bay area. He swore to live the life and protect the values of a Leather Master and was covered with the Master’s cover in Hayward, California in 1969.
Over the years, the good doctor has taught at military schools both nationally and internationally. He taught at two universities where he honed his skills for developing and teaching performance-based learning as well as developing and implementing performance-based and behavior-based programs for governmental organizational development efforts. He light heartily recounts the times he has conducted "30 to 300 person group therapy sessions." As Master David, he has been a long-time contributor to safe, sane, pleasure-filled learning opportunities for adults to explore and expand their self-awareness.
He was honored to be asked to develop and lead the first ever Mentor Service for MTTA, Inc. The Mentor Service is starting out with some very experienced and dedicated Masters and slaves. Each is committed to help others learn "Leather" values, develop skills applying those values while leading or serving others, and to achieve competence as a Master or slave as an individual, in relationships, and within the community.

Lady Lynette
Although empathic, I also balance that with the ability to face the realities of a situation and call a spade a spade. Because I have had the opportunity to live in many different places, travel to many events, and meet many different people, my view of Master/slave relationships has become broader while becoming stronger. I have learned to take things in stride and have learned to accept that most things are not really personal and could have nothing to do with me, even though I may be the brunt of anger or apathy. Although it is not easy to admit my mistakes I have learned to do so, hopefully with grace and humility.
The largest influence upon my Mastery, other than my exceptional slave, has been MTTA. It it there I have been able to talk and disect Master/slave relationships. MTTA has afforded me many opportunities to speak with other Masters and slaves, to observe how other Masters and slave work, and to hear many points of view.
Mistress Khiki
When I was 15 I found a copy of Bob Damron’s Address Book in a local gay bar that happened to be owned by my mom. I quickly assigned myself the task of learning the "hanky code." About the same time I discovered Drummer Magazine, and that was, as they say “all she wrote;” I was hooked. I was already out as a dyke, so my brain easily jumped to “somewhere there are women to do those naughty things with me.” So I flagged, everywhere.
My mother and I traveled a lot so I used the "address book" to try finding, and gaining entry to those specially coded bars and clubs that were “leather and SM.” I wasn’t terribly successful for years. Then I found the Atlanta Eagle and a whole new chapter of my life was opened.
My journey in the Leather community was aided almost entirely by gay men (and interestingly, my mom as well.), and more specifically by Drummer boys. Yep, most of my mentoring was done by bottoms and boys, and I consider myself incredibly lucky because they taught me a million and one lessons about being a Top, and even more about being a Master. I was taught how to behave and follow what I was told were "Old Guard" protocols for doing things; then the protocols themselves became a fetish for me, which probably explains why I love “Old Guard” (ask me about that :) and “Traditional Leather” so much.
I was the first Ms. Atlanta Eagle, ’95-’96 (really, that’s what the sash says), Ms. Georgia Leather 1996, 1st Runner Up American Leather Woman 1997, and International Master 1999.

slave catherine
slave catherinee has been honored to serve in the Household of Sir Stephen for over 14 years. She has always felt that slavery is a radically different way to live her life that is fulfilling, productive and exciting. She is very glad she was able to say "Yes" to her inner call. She is honored to have been the recipient of the titles of Northeast slave 2004 and International slave 2005, as well as the recipient of the slave Heart Award 2007 and the MAsT International's Presenter of the Year 2007.
slave lara
slave lara is from Philadelphia, PA, and is owned and collared to Lord Brick. slave lara is the Founder and Moderator of the national consortium entitled, Art of slavery (Aos), the Assistant Director of the MAsT: Philadelphia chapter and is a Member of the Board of Directors of MTTA, Inc.

She also was the Series Coordinator and Book Editor for the “Art of slavery” Power Exchange Resource Book published in 2008.
slave lara is widely known for her ethical and principally driven viewpoints on transparency, communication, diversity, mentoring, safety for new submissive’s, protocols and rituals, while often being seen as a Higher Protocol slave. He is currently in service to Sir Stephen. Justin is the editor of The Leather Times, the newsletter of the Leather Archives & Museum, and was the recipient of the 2008 Pantheon of Leather Rocky Mountain Regional Award. He has presented at a wide range of leather events including Leather Leadership Conference, Southplains Leatherfest, the Master/slave Conference, Los Angeles Leather Weekend and Rio Grande Leather. He works for a national LGBT advocacy organization.
slave jezebel
jezebel was introduced to the scene when she was 19 by a college friend … interesting already, but it gets better; although she was too young to understand the significance she was in the heart of the San Francisco Leather Dyke scene and had some pretty interesting experiences, none of which can be printed here due to decency laws, lifetime confidentiality agreements and dead French masters with no forwarding address.
Higher education and a maverick approach to life have led jez to live in many cities across our country, but she finally settled in Philly, and in 2003 she became involved in the Mid-Atlantic Leather/Fetish/Kinky and BDSM communities with a vengeance: investigating, questioning, absorbing, learning and volunteering. In the summer of 2011 she and her Mistress moved to HotLanta.
She has done graphic design for many organizations and events within our larger kink and Leather communities such as The Floating World, Master/slave Conference, MAsT (regional and International), The Leather Heart Foundation, MTTA, DC Leather Pride, The Carter/Johnson Leather Library, Art of slavery, BrimStone, Black Phoenix, and travels year round presenting at Leather, kink, and BDSM events across the country. She is co-producer of the Mid Atlantic Olympus Leather contest, official “genie” of "Mama Vi’s Leather Library," and is in her last year of training as an ASL interpreter.
In her free time, all 30 seconds of it, she writes and blogs about Leather, M/s, etc., bottoms to her cats, serves her Mistress, and continues to volunteer in both the Leather and greater Kink/BDSM/M/s communities.
